Turnpike Way
Street guide, Hedge End
A main road through the south-western part of Hedge End, connecting Shamblehurst Lane to Tollbar Way and the retail park area. The road was built as part of the estate development of the 1980s and takes its name from the old turnpike road that once ran through the area. The Turnpike pub serves the local community. Housing along Turnpike Way is a mix of detached and semi-detached houses with gardens, set back from the road behind grass verges. The road provides convenient access to the M27 via Junction 7 and to the retail park on Tollbar Way.
