St John's Road
Street guide, Hedge End
One of the principal roads in Hedge End, running from the Botley Road area southward past St John the Evangelist Church. The road takes its name from the medieval parish church, the oldest building in the town. The Barleycorn pub stands on St John's Road and is a popular local meeting place. The residential properties along the road include some of the older housing in Hedge End, with Victorian, Edwardian and interwar properties alongside later development. The road connects the town centre to the southern residential areas and provides access to Kings Copse Road and Bursledon Road.
