The parish church of Hedge End, with origins dating to the twelfth century. St John's is the oldest building in the town, retaining elements of its Norman architecture within later alterations. The church is an active place of worship with regular Church of England services, and it hosts baptisms, weddings and funerals. The churchyard contains memorials spanning several centuries and ancient yew trees.
